Mrs. Kayla Pollock

Logic & Rhetoric Math

Kayla Pollock brings thirteen years of teaching experience to her role as a Logic and Rhetoric math teacher at Mars Hill Academy, where she is beginning her fourth year. A graduate of Butler University with degrees in mathematics and education, and a master’s degree from the American College of Education, Mrs. Pollock is passionate about revealing God’s truth, goodness, and beauty through the study of mathematics. Her enthusiasm for classical, Christian education stems from its unique ability to present math as a divine gift, enabling students to “think God’s thoughts after Him” by exploring the order and rationality of His creation.

Mrs. Pollock views her teaching as a ministry, using mathematics as a vehicle to cultivate humility, diligence, perseverance, and gratitude in her students. By fostering deep relationships, she models and mentors them toward becoming faithful Christ-followers, helping them see math as a training ground for logical reasoning and character development. Her prayer is that her students leave her classroom with a stronger work ethic, a humble disposition toward challenges, and a lasting appreciation for the field of mathematics as a reflection of God’s sovereignty.

Drawn to Mars Hill Academy before her children reached school age, Mrs. Pollock and her husband, Tyler, were captivated by the school’s alignment with their theology and educational convictions, having witnessed its fruit in the lives of like-minded families at their church. This conviction, rooted in years of studying classical education while teaching in public schools, confirmed her calling to serve at Mars Hill, where she integrates faith and learning by teaching students that God created math as an orderly and predictable framework for understanding His world.

Outside the classroom, Mrs. Pollock and Tyler, active members of North Cincinnati Community Church, serve in various ministries, from teaching Sunday school to leading small groups and serving in the nursery. Together with their four children, they cherish hiking and camping in state and national parks, finding joy in God’s creation and moments of togetherness that deepen their family’s faith and love.
